Desert Lies: Here in New Mexico we don’t have trees or grass between fairways, but we have desert–could be sand, gravel, rocks, shrubs…if we end up in this area, would you recommend using “rough” or “recovery” (assuming that I have a shot). Or is there another choice more appropriate?

I’d use rough usually. If you don’t have a shot, then recovery. If you have a partial shot, then deep rough.
